When commitments pile up, deciding where to start can feel like another task. Take a moment to look at your day and ask a more specific question: what is taking up space right now?
01 · Notice the context
Stress can come with difficulty concentrating and a sense of being overwhelmed. Small goals and talking to someone you trust can help you manage it. The NHS guide to stress.
02 · Make the pause practical
Before closing your laptop, write the next step in one sentence: “reread this page” is more defined than “finish everything”. Step away from the screen for a moment. When you return, choose one activity to pick up.
03 · Observe without judging
On a sheet of paper, note when your focus drops, how you slept and which tasks came beforehand. A few lines are enough. The aim is to describe what happens, without scoring yourself or trying to make a diagnosis.
04 · Know when to look further
Tiredness has many possible causes. If it persists without a clear explanation or affects daily life, speak to a doctor. NHS guidance on tiredness. Bring your observations and a list of medicines or supplements you use. A promise of instant energy cannot replace that conversation.
